I have had the privilege of knowing Kate Gustin as a friend and colleague since 1995. Kate procured rigorous training for herself in the University of California, Berkeley's clinical psychology Ph.D. program and, afterwards, at a large regional hospital where she has for 15 years seen clients, supervised post-doctoral clinicians, and been sought after as a course instructor to clients, colleagues, and staff.
Additionally, Kate has been a student of spiritual practice for decades, fearlessly devoted to examining in that manner the nature of reality, of the mind, of the human heart. These two streams of inquiry - a scientific, evidence-based approach to knowledge and a gentle and non-linear orientation towards knowing what is true combine in Kate to produce that rare and extraordinary clinician who unites in herself a brilliant analytic mind, a deeply kind heart, and a wise soul.
Kate is thoughtful, sensitive, extraordinarily tactful, and able to perceive in those she works with both the specificity of their psychological needs and the yearning, and potential, or their best and truest selves. I cannot recommend her more highly.

Dr. Gustin is a talented and intuitive therapist, skilled in a variety of therapeutic techniques ranging from intensive insight-oriented psychotherapy to brief therapy, interpersonal therapy, CBT, DBT, and others. She is insightful, caring and supportive, and always helpful in collaboration with other clinical providers.
I have known her for many years, both as her supervisor in my capacity as the Adult Service Chief and later Chief Psychologist, and as a clinical colleague at the Department of Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Rosa. During those years, she developed a number of programs on the health benefits of positive psychology for both patients and staff. I have nothing but the highest regard for her clinical skills, her integrity, and her dedication to client/patient care.

Kate was the keynote presenter at our Annual Health Education Retreat. The presentation on Positive Psychology and Pro-Social Behavior was fascinating, interesting and validating in that there is research to reinforce the concepts presented and the positive impact that they have on our degree of happiness and well-being. Kate knows what she is talking about and presents in a graceful manner that is easy to follow and at the same time very consistent with the message. It is apparent that she practices what she teaches.

I am honored and happy to endorse Dr. Kate Gustin. I have worked with her for 15 years at Kaiser Permanente and have had the privilege to be her friend, colleague and supervisor in my role as the Adult Psychiatry chief. She has a warm, gentle manner and her clients respond to her genuine positive regard as they journey with her in both individual and group therapy.
Dr. Gustin is always growing and learning. She has worked with a large variety of clients over the years. She has trained and become expert in all of the current evidence-based therapy modalities, including DBT, ACT, EMDR, interpersonal therapy and positive psychology. She created a unique class for Kaiser’s Health Education Department, recognizing the need for all people to be aware of how a positive approach to life can be healing. She wanted everyone to benefit from this wisdom, not just the clients that were suffering and seeking help in the Psychiatry Department.
I trust her with my whole heart and mind, and would send any of my loved ones to work with her.
